Commerce Minister Mr. Piyush Goyal asserts Indian businesses must strengthen domestic industry to reshape global trade

India continues to strengthen its position as a resilient and fast-growing global economy amid rising geopolitical and economic uncertainties. Addressing the CII Annual Business Summit 2026 in New Delhi, Commerce and Industry Minister Mr. Piyush Goyal stated that India has consistently transformed global challenges into opportunities through strong economic fundamentals and policy-driven growth. He highlighted that the country achieved a record year in exports, reflecting the growing competitiveness of Indian industries across global markets. He further noted that India’s foreign exchange reserves are currently sufficient to cover nearly eleven months of imports, positioning the country among the strongest economies globally as per International Monetary Fund standards.

The Minister emphasized the importance of collective efforts by Indian businesses to strengthen domestic manufacturing and industrial capabilities as global trade dynamics continue to evolve. He stated that India has consistently emerged stronger during periods of global disruption and remains well-positioned to leverage new opportunities arising from shifting supply chains and changing business environments. Speaking at the summit, Education Minister Mr. Dharmendra Pradhan underlined the need for a skill-oriented education ecosystem under the National Education Policy. He stressed the importance of integrating internships and apprenticeships into the academic credit framework to enhance employability and industry readiness among students.
