The Department of Commerce has extended the timelines under Component II of the Resilience and Logistics Intervention for Export Facilitation (RELIEF) scheme until March 31, 2027. The Ministry of Commerce and Industry announced the extension in response to continued geopolitical disruptions in West Asia and their impact on maritime logistics across the Gulf and adjoining regions. RELIEF is a time-bound intervention under the Export Promotion Mission designed to support Indian exporters facing disruptions in international trade and shipping. Component II aims to encourage exporters to obtain export credit insurance cover from the Export Credit Guarantee Corporation of India (ECGC) for upcoming shipments to specified regions by providing 95% risk coverage. The benefit applies to Standalone Policies and Whole Turnover Policies obtained on or after the date specified under the scheme.
Under Component II, the premium payable by eligible exporters is protected against increases beyond pre-disruption levels during the eligible period. The scheme covers Full Container Load (FCL), Less Container Load (LCL) and refrigerated container shipments, excluding energy shipments. Exporters seeking coverage under RELIEF are required to submit claims and supporting documents through the ECGC customer portal at www.ecgcltd.in. Launched on March 19, 2026, RELIEF is a targeted intervention to help Indian exporters manage extraordinary freight cost increases, higher insurance premiums and war-related export risks arising from disruptions in the Gulf and the wider West Asian maritime corridor. The extension provides additional time for eligible exporters to access support amid continuing uncertainty affecting regional maritime logistics.
