Consumers' focus on local products to help create job opportunities: Mr. Goyal

On Thursday, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Mr. Piyush Goyal said the concentrate on "Vocal for Local" and the development of value-added products in India could build job opportunities for the youth and boost the country's economic growth.

As customers reflect more on quality goods and services produced in the country at the right price, it will produce more jobs for young people and help accelerate the development of the country's economy, Mr. Goyal said.

The economy is consumer-driven and the strength of 130 crore customers in the country to determine how strong the country's economy can grow. The more value-added goods the country creates the more economic opportunities it will generate in the country.

It is the joint duty of both consumers and producers to make local voices, which will help to provide employment for everyone in the nation and help to increase the export share of the country in world markets.

The Minister further stated that if young people demand high-quality goods at the right price and are not drawn to low-quality or low-priced products, this will push farmers to manufacture and sell high-quality products at the right price across the world.

He added, “It will also allow the companies take up this as a challenge to market only good-quality goods or get rejected by customers.”
