The Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA), under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA), organised an awareness webinar in Arunachal Pradesh to promote the Corporate Mitra Scheme, an initiative aimed at strengthening India's MSME ecosystem by creating a network of trained para-professionals. Organised in collaboration with Rajiv Gandhi University, the programme brought together students, youth, professionals and MSMEs as part of IICA's outreach campaign in the North Eastern Region. The scheme seeks to provide affordable support in regulatory compliance, taxation, accounting, corporate governance and financial management, particularly for enterprises in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities. By reducing the compliance burden on micro, small and medium enterprises while equipping young graduates with industry-oriented skills, the initiative is expected to improve ease of doing business and generate employment opportunities in line with the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047.
In its first phase, the Corporate Mitra Scheme aims to train 2,000 participants nationwide, including 200 candidates from the North Eastern Region, who will receive a 50% concession on the course fee. IICA Shillong has been designated as the nodal agency for implementing the scheme across the North East and will work with state governments, universities and industry associations to expand awareness and facilitate enrolment. During the webinar, representatives from the Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICMAI), the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) highlighted the importance of building a skilled compliance support ecosystem for MSMEs. More than 150 students, faculty members and aspiring professionals participated in the programme, reflecting growing interest in strengthening professional capacity and supporting the sustainable growth of India's MSME sector.
