CSIR Transfers Four Indigenous Technologies to Industry

The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) has strengthened India's innovation and technology commercialisation ecosystem by transferring four indigenous technologies to industry and commercially launching an Internet of Things (IoT)-enabled rural water service delivery, measurement and monitoring system. At a Technology Transfer Event held at the CSIR Headquarters in New Delhi and organised by the CSIR-Central Scientific Instruments Organisation (CSIR-CSIO), Director General of CSIR and Secretary, Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, Dr. N. Kalaiselvi, highlighted the importance of translating research into commercially viable products that support industry and society. The technologies licensed to Pump Academy Private Limited include the Induction Motor Stethoscope (MSCOPE), Portable and Universal Motor-cum-Pump Performance Monitor (PU-MPPM) and i-Power Quality Analyser (IPQA), while the Optical Module and Beam Combiner Assembly for the Head-Up Display (HUD) of the SU-30 aircraft programme was transferred to Bharat Electronics Limited.

The event also marked the commercial launch of an affordable IoT-enabled rural water monitoring system through Biometry Technologies Private Limited, enabling advanced monitoring of water quality, water quantity and service delivery in rural areas. During FY26, CSIR-CSIO received Rs. 1.67 crore (US$ 177,660) in royalty from Bharat Electronics Limited for the licensed production of indigenous military avionics technologies, including Head-Up Display systems, Drogue Lights, Taxi Landing Lights, Head-Up Display I Level Tester and Boresight Alignment Tool technologies. The successful technology transfers and commercialisation initiatives are expected to strengthen industry-academia collaboration, accelerate indigenous technology adoption, promote innovation-led manufacturing and support the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat by enhancing India's capabilities in defence, industrial instrumentation and smart rural infrastructure.
