The Centre for Trade and Investment Law (CTIL) at the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), has launched Going Global: A Practical Guide for Indian MSMEs to strengthen the export readiness and global competitiveness of Indian micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Designed as a one-stop practical resource, the guidebook helps MSMEs identify export opportunities, understand market access requirements, comply with international standards and sustainability norms, leverage trade intelligence tools, and build strategies for expanding into global markets. It also addresses key challenges such as limited market information, identifying overseas buyers, meeting certification requirements and maintaining price competitiveness.
The initiative aims to equip Indian MSMEs with practical knowledge to make informed business decisions and integrate more effectively into global value chains. During the launch event, policymakers, industry leaders and trade experts discussed strategies to enhance exports through effective utilisation of India's Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), preferential Rules of Origin, product diversification and value addition. The event also showcased the Trade Remedies Advisory Cell (TRAC), which supports domestic industries by creating awareness of trade remedy laws and providing guidance on addressing unfair trade practices and import surges. The guidebook is expected to strengthen the internationalisation of Indian MSMEs and support the country's export-led growth agenda.
