On February 23, 2023, India and Sri Lanka held their 7th annual defence dialogue in New Delhi. General Kamal Gunaratne of Sri Lanka and the Defence Secretary Mr. Giridhar Aramane, India co-chaired this meeting. At the discussion, the two countries' existing defence cooperation efforts were reviewed, with both parties agreeing to expand the complexity of bilateral exercises. Both parties reaffirmed their dedication to maximising the advantages of one another's experience and abilities in the framework of training.
The Indian delegation included comprised representatives from the Ministry of Defence, Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff, Service Headquarters, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Among other prominent dignitaries, the Sri Lankan delegation included Air Marshal SK Pathirana, Commander of the Sri Lankan Air Force. The highest level of institutionalised interaction between the two countries is this Annual Defence Conversation. Both nations' armed forces continue to pursue bilateral collaboration in a variety of domains, and expanded engagements are a promising indicator for the future of bilateral relations.
