The wedding season has arrived in Delhi, with traders anticipating significant business opportunities. The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) estimates the season will generate US$ 71.38 (Rs. 6 lakh crore) in business. The season's first phase commenced on Tuesday with Dev Uthani Ekadasi and will last for 18 days. During this period, approximately 4.5 lakh weddings will occur in the city. On the auspicious occasion of Dev Uthani Ekadasi, around 50,000 weddings were celebrated, marking the beginning of a busy wedding season that will continue until December 16.

The wedding season is expected to drive trade in clothing, jewellery, decorations, electronics, furniture, gifts, and catering sectors. CAIT Secretary General and Chandni Chowk Member of Parliament, Mr. Praveen Khandelwal, noted that businesses offering wedding-related services are preparing for increased demand, which could lead to more job opportunities. Chairman of the Chamber of Trade and Industry, Mr. Brijesh Goyal, reported a 40% rise in venue bookings, including banquets, hotels, and restaurants. To manage the increased traffic during this period, the Delhi Traffic Police have made special arrangements, including conducting drives to remove encroachments and deploying cranes to handle illegally parked vehicles.
