The Embassy of India in Riyadh, in collaboration with the Royal Commission for Riyadh City, organised a cultural evening titled “Desert Harmony Sitar Melodies”, highlighting the richness of Indian classical music and reinforcing cultural ties between India and Saudi Arabia. The event featured a performance by internationally acclaimed sitar maestro Ustad Shujaat Husain Khan, whose rendition showcased the depth and enduring appeal of India’s musical heritage. The event was attended by senior Saudi government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of the Indian community and music enthusiasts from across Riyadh, reflecting the growing appreciation of Indian culture in the Kingdom. The event also underscored the role of cultural exchanges in strengthening mutual understanding and fostering closer people-to-people connections between the two countries.
Addressing the gathering, Ambassador of India to Saudi Arabia Dr. Suhel Ajaz Khan highlighted the long-standing relationship between India and Saudi Arabia, founded on shared history and strengthened by common aspirations for peace, prosperity and progress. He also emphasised the expanding scope of cultural cooperation between the two nations, including the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Cultural Cooperation aimed at deepening cultural engagement and enhancing people-to-people ties. The event reflects the growing importance of cultural diplomacy in supporting the broader India–Saudi Arabia partnership, which continues to expand across trade, investment, energy, technology and tourism. By promoting artistic and cultural exchanges, initiatives such as “Desert Harmony” are helping strengthen bilateral relations and creating new avenues for collaboration between the two countries.
