The education system is changing fast, with more students enrolling through digital channels than ever. According to Meritto’s Enrolment Index 2025, 62% of student enrolments now come from digital platforms. Their Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based study of 23 million student leads shows that digital channels contribute 71.78% of student leads, 77.96% of applications, and 61.55% of total enrolments. Among paid platforms, Google is the top source, driving 10.13% of enrolments, followed by Shiksha (3.84%), CollegeDekho (3.47%), Collegedunia (1.81%), and GetMyUni (0.78%). This shift shows that more institutions are using online marketing to attract students.

Different enrolment sources show that offline methods still make up 28.69% of enrolments. However, digital sources like direct brand pull (26.25%), publisher campaigns (17.71%), paid advertisements (11.88%), and chatbots (3.77%) are becoming more important. Colleges and universities use AI, automation, and targeted online campaigns to connect with students more effectively. As technology continues to improve, digital enrolments will likely play an even bigger role in the future of education.
