The 18th G20 Heads of State and Government Summit, which will serve as the culmination of all the G20 processes and meetings held throughout the year involving ministers, senior officials, and civil society, is set to take place in New Delhi. At the conclusion of the New Delhi Summit, a G20 Leaders' Declaration will be adopted, outlining the commitment of the Leaders to the priorities discussed and chosen during the relevant ministerial and working group meetings. The G20 Summit will take place in Pragati Maidan, New Delhi on September 9-10, 2023.
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), GoI successfully hosted meetings of the G20 Digital Economy Working Group (DEWG) in Lucknow, Hyderabad, Pune, and Bengaluru.
The key outcomes and deliverables from these meetings include G20 agreement on the deliverables put forth by the Indian Presidency, which include crucial elements like Digital Public Infrastructure, One Future Alliance for financing Digital Public Infrastructure (DPIs) in LMICs, Global DPI Repository, High-Level Principles for Supporting Businesses, Roadmap for Facilitating Cross Country Comparison of Digital Skills, Toolkit for Designing and Introducing Digital Up-skilling and Re-skilling Programmes, and a Virtual Centre of Excellence Fostering Digitally-Skilled Workers. Further, it also includes the release of two knowledge products namely ‘Accelerating the SDGs through DPI’ and ‘The DPI Playbook’ by G20 Indian Presidency in partnership with UNDP and having an aim to assist countries in their digital transformation journey. Lastly, Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with six countries on collaboration and sharing INDIA STACK, a portfolio of successful digital solutions implemented at a significant population scale is also an outcome of the meetings.
The 18th G20 Summit will feature a number of notable attractions, including the Digital India Experience Zone, which intends to give G20 attendees hands-on experience of India's successful implementation of digital transformation at a significant population scale.
The Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY) is establishing two cutting-edge Digital India Experience Zones in Hall 4 and Hall 14 at Pragati Maidan to facilitate the sharing of experience and best practices on implementing DPIs in the nation, to inform global stakeholders of projects that are scalable and replicable, and to give visitors a special opportunity to experience the power of technology first-hand.
The Digital India Experience Zone is a treasure trove of cutting-edge technology that is packed with information and insights about key Digital India activities. Aadhaar, DigiLocker, UPI, eSanjeevani, DIKSHA, Bhashini, and ONDC are the seven important efforts chosen to demonstrate the best practices for implementing DPIs. Visitors to the exhibition will get an immersive experience that will allow them to learn about DPI repositories in India and gather knowledge that will benefit the entire world community.
Attendees will have the chance to interact with cutting-edge technology through LIVE presentations of the Aadhaar Face Authentication Software, while visitors to the UPI exhibit will be able to explore and learn about the many uses of UPI around the world.
Furthermore, the usefulness of India's DigiLocker will also be explained to visitors, who will see how it has streamlined procedures and improved efficiency in a variety of industries, including banking, real estate, travel, transportation, and the legal and judicial systems. Visitors to the DIKSHA display will be able to explore the abundance of educational resources offered by DIKSHA through an intuitive and engaging experience. Visitors can hear real-time speech-to-speech translation in all Indian languages as well as six United Nations languages at the Bhashini display.
The "JugalBandi" Telegram Bot will let users interact and ask questions in any language of their choice, promoting further conversation.
Visitors can learn about DPI's guiding principles and the development of Digital India initiatives in the Digital Tree exhibit, while a grand display of Digital India's iconic journey will take visitors through the major milestones of Digital India since 2014, bringing to life the advancements that have been made in the digital space through simulated virtual reality.
Moreover, a kiosk introducing the G.I.T.A. application will offer a platform where visitors can seek answers to questions about life in accordance with the revered holy book Shrimad Bhagwad Gita. Users can also interact to see how Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) collaborates with sellers, customers, and network providers on a large scale.
