Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi said that digital transactions worth Rs. 20,000 crore (US$ 2.60 billion) are now taking place daily in India, this is not only improving services but also encouraging an honest society. He remarked in his monthly Mann Ki Baat radio broadcast that small online payments are assisting in the development of a large digital economy, and that many new fintech start-ups are emerging. In March, the total value of UPI transactions has reached Rs. 10 lakh crore (US$ 130.44 billion).
