India’s direct selling industry achieved sales of Rs. 22,142 crore (US$ 2.58 billion) in FY24, reflecting a 4.4% YoY growth, as per the Indian Direct Selling Association (IDSA). Over the last five years, the industry has grown at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 7.15%. The number of active direct sellers in India increased to 88 lakhs, with female participation rising from 37% in FY23 to 44% in FY24. Regionally, the northern part of the country contributed the highest share of sales at 30%, followed by the western and southern regions. The wellness and nutraceutical sector continued to dominate, accounting for 64.15% of total industry revenue. At the same time, cosmetics and personal care products emerged as the second-largest category.
Based on a survey conducted by IPSOS, the report highlights the industry's steady expansion, driven by increasing consumer demand and greater participation in direct selling. Despite moderate growth in FY24 compared to previous years, the sector remains resilient, with continued interest from entrepreneurs and consumers alike. The Indian direct selling market, valued at Rs. 22,142 crore (US$ 2.58 billion), remains one of the largest globally, with an evolving product portfolio and increasing digital adoption supporting its long-term growth. The sustained momentum, particularly in wellness and beauty segments, suggests a stable and promising future for the sector.
