Domestic air passenger traffic rise 9% in November

In November, official data revealed a 9% increase in domestic air passenger traffic, totaling more than 127 million. Throughout the month, daily air traffic consistently reached record levels. IndiGo maintained its position as the largest domestic carrier, though its market share slightly decreased to 61.8% from 62.6% in October. Despite the growth in passenger numbers, none of the scheduled carriers achieved an On-Time Performance (OTP) score exceeding 80% in November. According to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), airlines transported 127 million passengers during the month, reflecting a 9.06% annual growth compared to the same period last year.

From January to November 2023, domestic airlines recorded a 25.09% annual growth, carrying 1,382.34 lakhs passengers compared to 1,105.10 lakhs in the same period last year, with a monthly growth of 9.06%, according to DGCA. SpiceJet's market share rose to 6.2%, Air India maintained 10.5%, and Vistara slightly dropped to 9.4% in November. Akasa Air topped the OTP chart at 78.2%, followed by IndiGo at 77.5% and Vistara at 72.8%. Air India's OTP was 62.5%, AIX Connect's was 69.7%, and Alliance Air's was 66.1%. OTP is computed for Bangalore, Delhi, Hyderabad, and Mumbai airports.
