Dr. Jitendra Singh told the media that "the exclusive findings and inputs of Chandrayaan-3 will benefit the entire World Community" after the spacecraft's Vikram lander module, which was carrying the Pragyan rover, successfully detached itself from the propulsion module in its onward lunar journey.
He noted that, despite the fact that the United States and the Soviet Union had begun their space journeys long before India and that America had landed a human being on the surface of the Moon in 1969, it was Chandrayaan that brought back images of water on the Moon, which surprised the entire world, including the Americans.
He stated that “We always heard imaginary fiction and asked ourselves whether there were any people living on the Moon, but for the first time Chandrayaan's findings prompted the world community to find scientific answers to these mysteries”.
The Minister noted that, after the United States, Russia, and China, India will be the fourth country in the world to land on the Moon, but it will be the only country in the world to land on the lunar South Pole.
He stated that every Indian and the entire world is watching every second and waiting with bated breath for the final outcome.
Chandrayaan-3 is a follow-up mission to Chandrayaan-2 that aims to demonstrate India's competence in soft landing and roving on the Moon's surface. According to him, the complex mission profile necessary for the spacecraft to enter the Moon's orbit was accomplished quite precisely.
He added, “After the successful landing of Chandrayaan-3 on the surface of the Moon, the rover, which has six wheels, will come out and is expected to work for 14 days on the Moon. With the support of multiple cameras on the rover, we will be able to receive images”.
Dr. Jitendra Singh elaborated, saying that the key goals of the Chandrayaan-3 mission are to show safe and soft landings on the lunar surface, rover movement on the moon, and in-situ scientific research. According to him, India's space industry would be worth US$ 1 trillion in the upcoming years.
