A new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between an autonomous institute under the Department of Science and Technology (DST) and industry marks a significant step towards strengthening India’s advanced manufacturing and materials technology ecosystem. The MoU has been formalised between the International Advanced Research Centre for Powder Metallurgy and New Materials (ARCI), an autonomous R&D centre under DST, Government of India, and Raghu Vamsi Machine Tools Pvt. Limited, Hyderabad. This collaboration is designed to enable joint development, demonstration, and deployment of cutting-edge technologies relevant to strategic and high-performance engineering applications. By establishing a structured framework for cooperation, the partnership aims to bridge the gap between research innovation and industrial application.
Under the agreement, both organisations will work together on technology development, application-oriented research, and product demonstrations, leveraging ARCI’s specialised facilities through the Government-Owned Company-Operated (GOCO) model. The collaboration also focuses on intellectual property creation, knowledge sharing, and smooth transition of laboratory-scale innovations into industry-ready solutions. Key focus areas include advanced manufacturing and surface engineering, including laser-based processes, additive manufacturing, precision machining, high-performance materials processing, and comprehensive testing and evaluation. The scope of work will remain flexible, allowing expansion in line with emerging technological needs and mutual priorities.
