Minister of Labour and Employment and of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Mr. Bhupender Yadav announced that over 250 million informal sector employees from 400 various jobs had registered on the e-Shram portal. According to the government estimates, there are 160 occupations in the informal sector with around 38 crore workers.
Hence the government now possesses a national data system that includes two-thirds of the country's informal employees making it easier for the central and state governments to deliver social security and welfare benefits to workers in the informal sectors.
The government has several ongoing social security and welfare programmes for unorganised workers to address their numerous challenges and improve their living conditions and income. Mr. Bhupendra Yadav also shed light on eco-tourism mentioning that on October 25, 2021, the Ministry announced a revised guideline to address uncertainty in sections connected to ecotourism in the Comprehensive Guidelines issued under the Forest (Conservation) Act, 1980.
