Edu sector sees 12% more fund allocation

The overall budget allocation to education sector increased by 12% for FY22. Union Budget 2021-22 allocated funds worth Rs. 13,608 crore (US$ 1.87 billion) for school and higher education for FY22, an increase from Rs. 12,144 crore (US$ 1.67 billion) in FY21.

The government has been focusing on the continuous improvement of the overall education infrastructure. In line with this, the government allocated funds worth Rs. 4,000 crore (US$ 550.02 million) under a new scheme to upgrade and modernize the education sector.

Telangana Finance Minister, Mr. Harish Rao stated, “in the next two years basic facilities would be provided on a larger scales to all the government schools. The government is focusing on the developemnt of the school buildings, repair and modernization of the old buildings. Classrooms will be digitalized using modern technology.”
