The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) has announced a significant milestone for eSankhyiki, India’s flagship platform for statistical data dissemination, which now houses 134 million records just seven months after its launch in June 2024. This achievement reflects India’s dedication to utilizing data for evidence-based policymaking and positions the country as a leader in global statistical practices. Developed using open-source tools, eSankhyiki offers a comprehensive collection of time-series data across various domains, including National Accounts Statistics (NAS), Price Statistics, National Sample Surveys, Economic Census, and the Index of Industrial Production (IIP). It provides user-friendly dashboards for easy data filtering, visualization, and export, supporting open data principles.
This milestone aligns with India's active role as a United Nations Statistical Commission (UNSC) member. It highlights its commitment to statistical excellence and global collaboration. MoSPI plans to expand the platform with additional datasets and introduce Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered search functionalities, personalized dashboards, and interactive infographics to enhance the user experience. eSankhyiki is poised to advance data-driven governance further, making credible, accessible statistics a cornerstone of decision-making and international cooperation.
