Excited about PM Mr. Narendra Modi's US visit next month', says envoy Mr. Eric Garcetti

US Ambassador to India, Mr. Eric Garcetti stated that India has accorded a "depth" of friendship and strategic partnership with the United States that is unmatched in the world, and it is ready to expand further during Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi's visit to Washington next month.

Mr. Garcetti said that they are looking forward to Mr. Modi's visit to Washington to meet with President Mr. Joe Biden.

He also stated that the two countries are working on agreements to strengthen defence cooperation, which are expected to be finalised when Mr. Modi visits the US or President Mr. Joe Biden visits India for the G20 summit in September.

Mr. Garcetti also addressed the concerns that India faces from China along its land borders and marine regions, saying that India can rely on the US since it stands for respecting boundaries, sovereignty, and the rule of law. We will defend and safeguard these ideas, we would want to see both India and the United States have a more harmonious relationship with China, he continued.

During his discussion, Mr. Garcetti remarked that the two countries' alliance has taken on increased relevance for the globe considering the present geopolitical scenario. He stated that the alliance will benefit not only these two countries but the entire world.

He stated his thoughts on whether India and the US are considering cooperative development of important military platforms, saying, “We are offering weapons systems that are cutting edge and also technology transfers that ensure that India can make some of these things here in India".
