Exports of agriculture and allied commodities jumped by 12% in April-October to US$ 30 billion

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, the export of agriculture and allied commodities from India jumped by 12% to US$ 30 billion, from April-October 2022. The exports stood at US$ 26.98 billion in the same period last year.

The major exported commodities from India comprise wheat, basmati rice, raw cotton, castor oil, coffee, and fresh fruits.

The ministry informed that there was an improvement in the farm produce logistics, with the introduction of the ‘Kisan Rail’ service in July 2020. It was further stated that around 1,260 wholesale mandis in 22 states and three union territories have been integrated with the electronic-National Agricultural Market (e-NAM) with 1.72 crore farmers and 2.13 lakh traders registered on the platform.
