Exports of coffee from India jump by approximately 2% to 400,000 tonnes in 2022

The exports of coffee from India, Asia’s third-largest producer and exporter, jumped by 1.66% to 400,000 tonnes in instant coffee for 2022, while it was 393,000 in 2021, according to the Coffee Board. The coffee exports were worth US$ 1.05 billion (Rs. 8,762.47 crores) in 2022, as compared to US$ 844 million (Rs. 6,984.67 crores) in the previous year. Along with instant coffee, India also ships Robusta and Arabica varieties of coffee.

Around 99,513 tonnes of coffee were re-exported in 2022, which was higher than the last year at 92,235 tonnes. The unit per value realisation also stood at US$ 2,638 (Rs. 218,293 per tonne) in the period.

The major export destinations for Indian coffee are Italy, Germany, and Russia and the top export companies are Tata Coffee, India Tobacco Company (ITC) Ltd., Vidya Herbs, etc.
