In the last several years, there has been a significant increase in demand for indigenous crafts and items produced at the district level in Uttar Pradesh under the flagship "One District One Product" (ODOP) scheme. According to government statistics, the state's overall exports of ODOP products increased in value from Rs. 58,000 crore (US$ 7.28 billion) in FY17–18 to Rs. 96,000 crore (US$ 12.05 billion) in FY21–22. In terms of the total exports from Uttar Pradesh, it is projected that ODOP items account for about 62% of those exports.
Under its flagship ODOP programme, the government of Uttar Pradesh identified the indigenous crafts and goods being produced at a district level. According to officials, the state conducted diagnostic investigations of these manufacturing clusters in order to identify their strengths and develop strategic measures for reducing immediate problems.
District Export Action Plans have been created with the aim of enhancing each district's contribution to the state's exports and putting each district of Uttar Pradesh on the map of international trade.
