According to the data by the Tea Board, the exports of tea from India have increased by 18.1% to 185.31 million kilograms during January-October 2022, as compared to 160 million kilograms in the previous year’s first 10 months.
The data reported that the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) block countries remained the largest importer of tea at 43.65 million kilograms during the first 10 months of 2022, which was more than 36.95 kilograms in the same period last year. Russia remained the largest importer in the CIS block at 32.80 million kilograms. The exports of tea to the UAE were substantially higher than in the last period at 32.95 million kilograms, while for Iran, the exports fell. The UK and the USA were moderate buyers at 8.33 million kilograms and 10.42 million kilograms in the first 10 months of 2022. In January-October 2022 the trade earned foreign exchange of US$ 650 million, which was higher than US$ 590 million in the same previous period.
