According to government figures issued on July 14, India's merchandise exports increased by 23.52% in June to reach US$ 40.13 billion, while the country's trade deficit reached a new high of US$ 26.18 billion.
Comparing June to the same month last year, imports increased by 57.55% to US$ 66.31 billion. In June 2021, the trade deficit was US$ 9.60 billion.
Between April-June 2022, total exports increased by roughly 24.51% to US$ 118.96 billion, while total imports jumped by 49.47% to US$ 189.76 billion. In the same time period, the trade deficit increased to US$ 70.80 billion, compared to US$ 31.42 billion last year.
