India has informed the World Bank of substantial advancements in reducing waiting times at toll plazas and export release times at land ports. The average waiting time at toll plazas has significantly decreased to 47 seconds, down from 714 seconds, which is attributed to the implementation of FASTag. Export release times at land ports have decreased from 101 hours in 2021 to 22 hours in 2022. The Indian government, in a meeting with World Bank officials, outlined plans to augment the country's infrastructure, including adding 30,000 km of railway tracks, increasing port capacity to 2,200 million tonnes per annum by 2030, and expanding the national highways network to 185,000 km by 2030.

India aims to propel itself into the top 25 countries in the World Bank Logistics Performance Index. The country's efforts have already seen positive results, with a six-place improvement in its LPI ranking to 38 out of 139 countries in 2023. The government highlighted ongoing initiatives, such as integrated logistics parks, digitised systems for freight data analytics, and the simplification of logistics processes, aiming to enhance efficiency and streamline operations. India is actively working on implementing a land port management system by June next year to track consignments, mechanise cargo handling, and facilitate competitively priced shipments. The Land Ports Authority of India is also developing 26 new land ports over the next five years to enhance logistics infrastructure further.
