Festive demand and Goods and Services Tax (GST)-driven price cuts pushed passenger vehicle, two-wheeler, and three-wheeler dispatches to their highest-ever October 2025 levels, according to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM). Passenger vehicle wholesales rose 17% to 4,60,739 units compared with 3,93,238 units a year earlier. Two-wheeler sales increased 2% to 22,10,727 units, with scooters up 14% at 8,24,003 units, although motorcycle dispatches fell 4% to 13,35,468 units. Three-wheeler volumes grew 6% to 81,288 units. SIAM said the surge was driven by festive buying and lower post-revision GST rates, despite some logistical constraints affecting supplies.
With the revised GST rates effective from September 22, 2025, registrations in October saw a sharper rise than wholesales, reflecting strong retail traction. SIAM Director General, Mr. Rajesh Menon, said the tax cuts combined with festival sentiment boosted demand across segments, helping the industry achieve record dispatches.
