The Union Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Ms. Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti mentioned that through the technology-driven One Nation One Ration Card (ONORC) system, all the beneficiaries per se the migrant beneficiaries under the National Food Security Act, 2013 (NFSA) can avail their monthly entitled foodgrains, either in parts or entirely, from any electronic Point of Sale (ePoS) enabled Fair Price Shop (FPS) in the country.
This facility can be availed not only by them but also by their family members back home simply using their existing ration card or Aadhaar number with biometric authentication.
This plan is enabled in 36 States/UTs across the country, covering approximately 80 crore NFSA beneficiaries. Nationwide campaigns are conducted to create awareness amongst the beneficiaries in different modes, such as Community Radio Stations, banners, posters at Fair Price Shops, and the ‘Mera Ration’ App which is available in 13 languages and has seen nearly 20 lakh downloads.
