The Department of Fisheries, Government of Madhya Pradesh, and the Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying (MoFAHD), Government of India, are organising the Fisheries Investors & Exporters Conclave 2026 in Bhopal on October 23, 2026. The conclave aims to strengthen linkages between inland fisheries production, investment, processing, cold-chain infrastructure, value addition and export markets. It will bring together investors, exporters, more than 1,000 fish farmers from Madhya Pradesh, fisheries cooperatives, Fish Farmer Producer Organisations (FFPOs), entrepreneurs, start-ups, processors, financial institutions and research organisations to explore enterprise development, financing and market opportunities across the inland fisheries value chain.
A key highlight will be the release of the Madhya Pradesh Fisheries Investment and Export Guidelines, 2026, intended to facilitate investment in hatcheries, fish seed and feed, reservoir and cage fisheries, aquatic animal health, processing, cold-chain infrastructure, logistics and market development. The programme will also feature the release of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) on the export potential of inland States, the virtual inauguration of Integrated Cage Culture Units and the handover of administrative approval for the Integrated Development of Reservoirs and Amrit Sarovars in Madhya Pradesh by Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying and Panchayati Raj, Mr. Rajiv Ranjan Singh. India’s fish production reached 197.75 lakh tonnes in FY25, including 151.60 lakh tonnes from inland fisheries, while seafood exports were valued at Rs. 73,890 crore (US$ 8.36 billion) in FY26. With nearly 4.50 lakh hectares of water area, Madhya Pradesh has considerable potential to expand inland fisheries, strengthen value chains and improve income opportunities for fishers and fish farmers.
