Flash Report on Central Sector Infrastructure Projects worth Rs. 150 crore (US$ 15.92 million) and above

The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) has strengthened infrastructure monitoring through its PAIMANA portal, which is currently tracking 1,941 ongoing central sector projects with a total revised cost of Rs. 41.50 lakh crore (US$ 440.33 billion) as of March 2026. These projects span 17 central ministries and departments, with cumulative expenditure reaching Rs. 19.93 lakh crore (US$ 211.46 billion), accounting for about 48.02% of the total project cost, reflecting steady implementation progress. A significant share of projects is nearing completion, with around 40% achieving over 80% physical progress, while 13% have crossed 80% financial completion. The data also indicates a balanced project pipeline, with developments spread across early and advanced stages.

Sector-wise, transport and logistics dominate infrastructure development, accounting for 1,428 projects with a revised cost of Rs. 22.66 lakh crore (US$ 240.43 billion), underscoring the government’s focus on connectivity-led growth. The energy sector follows with 212 projects worth Rs. 10.79 lakh crore (US$ 114.49 billion), highlighting investments in power generation, transmission and oil & gas infrastructure. Communication projects, valued at Rs. 2.73 lakh crore (US$ 28.97 billion), aim to strengthen digital connectivity, while water and sanitation projects worth Rs. 2.31 lakh crore (US$ 24.51 billion) focus on urban services. During March 2026, 25 projects were commissioned, including major transport and energy assets, further accelerating infrastructure growth and improving logistics efficiency across sectors.
