India is fostering a thriving artificial intelligence ecosystem driven by youth where education, skill sets, and innovation are intricately connected. It was emphasized at the India AI Impact Summit 2026 that, with more than 65% of the population below the age of 35, youth are emerging as a key pillar of the country’s digital growth and innovation strategy. The focus now is moving from merely theoretical learning to training that helps students transition from classrooms to AI-based careers seamlessly. The Union Budget 2026-27 outlines the government initiatives to strengthen AI skilling in the country, including the establishment of AI content creator labs in 15,000 schools and 500 colleges in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Creative Technology (IICT) and similar bodies. This initiative aims to enable millions of learners to gain access to future-proof skill sets and job opportunities.
Apart from skilling initiatives, infrastructure development under the India AI Mission is increasing access to computing resources, data resources, and technology at affordable prices for startups and innovators from smaller cities to contribute to AI development. Initiatives like YUVAi, Skill India Mission, FutureSkills Prime, and global challenges and startup showcases are creating a talent pool from school room learning to research labs. Over 100 AI solutions were also showcased at the summit, indicating a rising momentum in entrepreneurship. On the ethics front, responsible AI initiatives attracted over 2.5 lakh participants who committed to the use of technology responsibly within 24 hours.
