Germany-based BENTELER Automotive is expanding its presence in the Indian market and has leased a large industrial property in the Chakan region of Pune. Its Indian subsidiary has absorbed over 136,000 sq ft of BTS property at Horizon Industrial Park, which is a facility supported by Blackstone and has become a hotspot for manufacturers looking for quality operating infrastructure around the globe. With this new property addition, BENTELER will expand its existing presence in this industrial park and, at the same time, increase its regional total factory capacity to 2.64 lakh sq ft, as it is confident of its growth plans in the Indian car markets and export markets, and wants to enhance its production capacity.
The leasing transaction has come at a time when leasing demand for manufacturing real estate, especially in Pune and other industrial hubs, has intensified, with increasing demand for both ready-to-move-in and customized manufacturing facilities from automakers, auto ancillaries, electronics, and engineering companies. Pune’s proximity to supply chains, along with its talent pool, has made Pune one of the favoured destinations for multinational companies announcing their presence in the rapidly growing Indian automotive market. The leasing transaction has also been seen as evidence that foreign investors remain eager to invest in India’s industrial infrastructure development.
