President Ms. Droupadi Murmu, on September 8, 2025, said India must leverage its exceptional capabilities to convert global trade challenges into opportunities. Addressing the platinum jubilee of the Engineering Export Promotion Council (EEPC), she highlighted that India’s engineering export destinations have shifted significantly over the past seven decades. She stressed that EEPC should continue driving change with the spirit of Nation First. She noted that India’s engineering exports rose from Rs. 6,16,210 crore (US$ 70 billion) to over Rs. 10,12,345 crore (US$ 115 billion) in the past decade, despite disruptions in international trade. She underlined that high-quality engineering services and products at competitive costs are India’s key strength.

She said EEPC has acted as a vital bridge between Indian producers and global markets, and its role has become even more important with shifts in the world trade and economic order. Urging EEPC to strengthen India’s presence in the global value chain, she said stakeholders should focus on making India a Global Innovation Centre by providing the right incentives and ecosystem. She emphasised that Global Capability Centres of the world’s largest companies are already in India, and called on EEPC members to pledge towards building India as a leading innovation-driven economy.
