On World Health Day, Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi underscored the importance of well-being, describing health as the "ultimate fortune" (Aarogyam Paramam Bhagyam). Sharing his message via social media platform X, he reaffirmed the government’s ongoing commitment to strengthening healthcare infrastructure and investing in public wellness. He also addressed the growing concern of obesity, encouraging citizens to reduce cooking oil consumption by 10%. Citing a report, he warned that over 440 million Indians could be affected by obesity by 2050.

World Health Day 2025 is being observed under the World Health Organization (WHO) theme ‘Healthy Beginnings, Hopeful Futures’. India has reiterated its focus on inclusive healthcare through flagship initiatives such as Ayushman Bharat and the National Health Mission (NHM). According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, key programmes like eSanjeevani and the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission have played a pivotal role in expanding digital health access, especially in maternal and child health, while boosting public health infrastructure. Celebrated annually on April 7 since 1950, World Health Day commemorates the founding of the WHO in 1948 and highlights pressing global health priorities.
