Government e-Marketplace (GeM) Surpasses Rs. 15,00,000 crore (US$ 171.3 billion) in Cumulative Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) Since Inception

Government e-Marketplace (GeM) has crossed a landmark Rs. 15,00,000 crore (US$ 171.3 billion) in cumulative Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) since its inception in 2016, highlighting its role as a key driver of digital transformation in public procurement. Over the past nine years, GeM has created a transparent, inclusive, and efficient marketplace, bringing together government buyers and a wide spectrum of sellers, including Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs), startups, women-led businesses, Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes (SC/ST) enterprises, and Self-Help Groups (SHGs). CEO, GeM, Mr. Mihir Kumar, credited this achievement to stakeholders’ trust and reiterated GeM’s commitment to deepening inclusivity, simplifying processes, and fostering innovation in line with the vision of Viksit Bharat. 
GeM has emerged as a transformative digital platform that not only streamlines procurement but also drives entrepreneurship, innovation, and equitable growth by enabling last-mile access. Key achievements include strengthening MSE participation, boosting women entrepreneurs, and embedding transparency through technology and policy reforms. With this milestone, GeM further reinforces its role as a vital enabler of Digital India, shaping a transparent and accountable procurement ecosystem. Going forward, its focus remains on sustaining efficiency, innovation, and inclusivity to expand opportunities and strengthen India’s digital economy.
