Government Expands Citizen-Centric Digital Public Service Delivery through UMANG and DigiLocker

The Government of India is expanding citizen-centric digital service delivery through UMANG (Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance) and DigiLocker under the Digital India programme. As of 31 July 2026, approximately 2,575 services were available on UMANG, including 880 Central Government and 1,695 State Government services, while DigiLocker offered 5,437 document types/services, comprising 661 Central Government and 4,776 State Government offerings. UMANG has more than 11.66 crore registered users and recorded about 798 crore transactions over the last three years. DigiLocker has more than 72.43 crore registered users and recorded around 72.86 crore document access transactions during the same period. The Government has also expanded the network of Common Service Centres (CSCs) to strengthen digital access in rural and remote areas, with 4,07,122 CSCs functional at the Gram Panchayat level as of 30 June 2026, including 70,069 operated by women Village Level Entrepreneurs.

Both platforms provide mobile and web-based access to government services and are integrated with key Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) components such as Aadhaar, eSign and API Setu, supporting secure and paperless service delivery. The platforms enable digital authentication, document verification and consent-based sharing, helping reduce physical visits and paper-based processes. The Government is also promoting digital literacy and awareness through initiatives such as Pradhan Mantri Gramin Digital Saksharta Abhiyan (PMGDISHA), while multilingual and accessible services are being expanded to improve inclusion and user experience. Government departments and State Governments continue to be onboarded to add more services and digital documents to the platforms. These initiatives are strengthening the digital public service ecosystem and expanding access to government services across urban, rural, remote and underserved regions.
