Minister of Defence, Mr. Rajnath Singh, said that the government is dedicated to building a strong, safe, and self-sufficient logistical system to deal with future security problems. The Minister, speaking at a seminar on Army logistics, stated that the government is working on developing common logistical nodes around the country to meet the demands of the three forces.

According to him, the resources of one service will be made available to the others through these nodes. He also presented his thoughts on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) architecture, describing it as a critical component of effective logistics. The Defence Minister also asked for more civil-military cooperation to develop the logistics system and prepare for future difficulties. He also emphasised that India has made remarkable progress in rail and other transportation areas. In the five years preceding 2014, 1,900 kilometres of railway tracks were doubled, while approximately 9,000 km of railway lines had been doubled in the last seven years.
