Government to assist exporters overcome global challenges: Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Piyush Goyal

Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Piyush Goyal, commended exporters' positive outlook and optimism in turning the current global crisis into an opportunity. Addressing Export Promotion Councils (EPCs) and industry associations, he assured them that the Government is working tirelessly to secure a strong future for Indian exporters in merchandise and services while safeguarding national interests. Discussing bilateral agreements, he highlighted that multiple negotiations are progressing simultaneously to benefit Indian exporters. He expressed confidence that the final stages of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) with certain nations would create better opportunities and attract higher investment. 

Encouraging industry stakeholders to adopt a global outlook, he urged EPCs to move away from protectionist approaches and engage boldly in international markets. He reiterated that the Viksit Bharat Mission’s goal of a prosperous India depends on aligning industry commitments with consumer aspirations for competitive goods and services. He noted that India is set to surpass Rs. 69,50,400 crore (US$ 800 billion) in exports this year, with services playing a significant role. He called on merchandise exporters to expand their global footprint. He also reassured exporters regarding trade relations with the United States, urging them to share their interests with the Government for better engagement. Highlighting the budget’s Export Promotion Mission, he encouraged the industry to contribute suggestions for enhancing exports through new products, markets, and exporters.
