During his Independence Day speech at the Red Fort, Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi stated that the government intends to raise the number of 'Jan Aushadhi Kendras' from 10,000 to 25,000.
He stated that Jan Aushadhi Kendras have given people, particularly the middle class, new power. When someone is diagnosed with diabetes, a monthly charge of Rs. 3,000 is incurred.
“Through Jan Aushadhi Kendras, we are giving medicines that cost Rs. 100 for Rs. 10 to Rs. 15," he explained.
In the coming month, the government will introduce the Vishwakarma scheme, with an allocation of US$ 1.55-1.79 billion (Rs.13,000-15,000 crore) for individuals with traditional skills.
He claimed that the government is attempting to increase the number of "Jan Aushadhi Kendra" (subsidised drug stores) from 10,000 to 25,000.
