Govt aims sustained recovery; infra spends will have multiplier effects: FM Nirmala Sitharaman

Ms. Nirmala Sitharaman, Minister of Finance and Corporate affairs, said the government wants a sustainable recovery, and the budget measures regarding infrastructure projects are an attempt to support the economy by creating a multiplier effect. She said that the budget was developed at a time when the economy was recovering from the effects of the pandemic, speaking at a post-budget dialogue in Mumbai.
Sitharaman said the government is looking at how digital solutions can be used in the education and farming sectors, citing the example of how technology enabled the government send payments to the impacted people during the pandemic. The government wants to continue encouraging innovation, and support for entrepreneurs and startups will continue.
