In an effort to promote financial inclusion, the government authorised Rs. 2,516 crore (US$ 318.96 million) on June 29 for the computerisation of 63,000 active Primary Agriculture Credit Societies (PACS).

Mr. Anurag Singh Thakur, Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Youth Affairs and Sports, said that this would help 13 crore farmers, the most of whom are small and marginal farmers. According to him, the project involves creating hardware support for PACS and developing cloud-based common software with cyber security and data storage. It will also lead to digitisation of existing records.
