Govt considering using PAN as a single-point identifier to expedite clearances: Mr. Piyush Goyal

In addition to allowing a similar facility for license renewals and periodic compliances, Minister of Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs & Food & Public Distribution and Textiles Mr. Piyush Goyal said the government is considering using the Permanent Account Number, or PAN, as a single-point identifier to facilitate quick regulatory approvals to new investment proposals under the single window.
The proposal involves utilizing PAN as a special identity for entering the National Single Window System (NSWS) as opposed to using other identities for central and state-level regulatory clearances.
PAN is probably going to be utilized as a special ID for API data integration between ministries and states to guarantee a special business user ID. According to Mr. Piyush Goyal, NSWS utilizes an auto-population module to enter the same data into several forms while also reducing data duplication. He also stated that the Department of Revenue (DoR) has already been contacted about this issue by the Ministry of Commerce.
