Under the Bharatmala Pariyojana scheme, the government has approved four road infrastructure projects costing Rs 4,518.04 crore (US$ 604 million). The projects in Assam, Telangana, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh are for the construction, widening, and upgrading of national highways.
The Minister of Road Transport and Highways announced on social media that the 4-Laning of NH-71 from Madanapalle to Pileru in Andhra Pradesh's Chittoor district has been sanctioned with a budget of Rs 1,852.12 crore (US$ 247,77 million) under the Bharatmala Pariyojna. Mr. Nitin Gadkari, Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Government of India also announced the building of a six-lane worth, access-controlled greenfield highway portion of NH-150C worth Rs 972.06 crore (US$ 130.04 milion) between Karnataka and Telangana.
In Assam, the government approved two national highway projects for Rs 1,694 crore (US$ 226.63 million), including four-lane construction and upgradation of NH-127B at a cost of Rs 1,522.91 crore (US$ 203.62 million).
