30 companies, including 22 Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), are capitalizing on the benefits offered by the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for the manufacturing of millet-based products, as reported by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries. The Production-Linked Incentive for Millet Based Products (PLISMBP) was established utilizing savings from the primary PLI Scheme for the Food Processing Industries (PLIFPI), with the specific aim of promoting the incorporation of millets in Ready to Cook/Ready to Eat (RTC/RTE) items.

As per the ministry's statement, about 30 companies, inclusive of 22 MSMEs, are actively engaged in advancing millet-based products through the PLISMBP. The PLISMBP scheme, sanctioned in August with a budget allocation of US$ 120.2 million (Rs. 1,000 crores) derived from savings in other segments, outlines the mandate for a minimum of 15% millet content in the approved food products.
