Gujarat continues to play a pivotal role in India’s economic landscape, contributing 8.3% to the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), along with 18% of industrial output and 31% of total exports, as highlighted by Chief Minister Mr. Bhupendra Patel. The announcement was made during the inauguration of the Gujarat Advanced Technology and Economy Expo (GATE) 2026 in Gandhinagar, organised by the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI). The three-day event, held from April 16-18, 2026, showcases Gujarat’s strong industrial ecosystem and its integration of trade, culture and entrepreneurship. The statement further emphasized that the state’s development model aligns with India’s broader economic vision, driven by innovation and industry-led growth.

Spanning over 18,000 square metres, the expo features participation from more than 16 sectors, including automobiles, renewable energy, pharmaceuticals, textiles and information technology, with a special focus on emerging areas such as artificial intelligence and cybersecurity. The platform aims to empower micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and young entrepreneurs by providing opportunities to expand from local markets to global opportunities. The event, themed ‘Gujarat Vision - Global Ambition’, is expected to further strengthen the state’s industrial base and enhance its global competitiveness. The statement also underscored that initiatives such as the Vibrant Gujarat Summit have played a crucial role in positioning the state as a global investment hub and a gateway to future economic opportunities.
