The Government of Gujarat has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to set up a 250 MW green Artificial Intelligence (AI), ready data centre at the Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR), which will further enhance the digital infrastructure of India. The proposed data centre will be focused on creating a sustainable and energy-efficient facility that will be fuelled by renewable energy resources, which is in line with India’s green growth vision. The data centre will also be capable of handling high-performance computing and AI applications, which will meet the rising demand for data storage and cloud services. The move also showcases Gujarat’s rise as a major destination for advanced technology infrastructure.
This initiative is also expected to attract technology giants from around the world, thereby increasing economic activity and generating employment opportunities in the region. This initiative will contribute to the reduction of carbon emissions and the enhancement of operational efficiency through the integration of green energy solutions with digital infrastructure, while also facilitating sustainable industrial development. The AI-ready data centre will be an important catalyst for innovation in the fintech, healthcare, manufacturing, and e-commerce sectors, further strengthening the rapidly growing digital economy in India. With the right policies in place and a focus on sustainability, this initiative further cements India’s position as a preferred destination for data centre investments and the development of advanced technology infrastructure.
