On Monday, HCL Technologies said it had signed a deal with the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK) to collaborate in the field of cybersecurity.

The IT company will partner with C3iHub, a specialist research centre for cybersecurity at IITK, as part of the pact.

This partnership will bring the brightest minds, advanced scientific skills and global resources of the country together to develop advanced cybersecurity solutions. In order to carry out joint projects and analysis, HCL and IITK would put in real world industry exposure.

As one of the first areas of focus, the teams will develop a security architecture and strategies for cybersecurity problems in current and potential operational technology.

They will also work together to identify and address cyber-attacks, limitations, and threats to critical infrastructure.

HCL Technologies will also collaborate with IITK to identify selective research projects. The projects will be evaluated in compliance with international benchmarks for future commercialisation of products and services and will be tested and produced in a particular HCL environment.
