Health and Chemicals & Fertilisers Minister, Mr. Mansukh Mandaviya, launches the SIDBI scheme for Jan Aushadi Kendra operators.

Health and Chemicals & Fertilisers Minister, Mr. Mansukh Mandaviya announced that the credit assistance scheme by SIDBI for Jan Aushadi Kendra operators is poised to strengthen and facilitate the expansion of the network. Emphasizing the significance of this initiative, He revealed that the SIDBI scheme offers loans without collateral to small operators of Jan Aushadi Kendra, aiding in business initiation or expansion. The credit guarantee for these loans, encompassing working capital and term loans, is provided by the Credit Guarantee Fund Trust For Micro And Small Enterprises (CGTMSE).

To establish 25,000 Janaushadhi Kendras across the country by March 31, 2026, the government aims to enhance healthcare accessibility. As of January 31, 2024, approximately 10,624 Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendras (PMBJKs) were operational nationwide. In the fiscal year 2022-23, the Pharmaceuticals & Medical Devices Bureau of India (PMBI) reported sales of US$ 149.3 million (Rs. 1,235.95 crore), resulting in substantial savings of around US$ 896 million (Rs. 7,416 crore) for citizens. The outlets contribute to affordability by offering approximately 1,965 generic drugs and 293 surgical items at reasonable rates.
