Hiring for white-collar jobs in India surged by 32% YoY in January 2025, driven by key sectors such as semiconductors, energy, waste management, and manufacturing, according to the latest Foundit Insights Tracker report. This growth is attributed to rising consumer demand, strategic incentives from the Union Budget FY26, and an increasing focus on sustainability initiatives. The report also highlights a 41% increase in green jobs over the past two years, primarily due to expanding clean energy initiatives and global net-zero targets.
Bengaluru, Delhi, and Pune have become major hubs for green jobs, with high demand for specialized skills in energy auditing and sustainability strategy. The demand for such roles is expected to grow by another 11% in 2025, driven by projects in renewable energy, electric vehicles (EVs), and green hydrogen. The retail and travel sectors also saw growth, with a 24% and 17% increase in hiring due to consumer demand and digital transformation. Hiring trends are expanding beyond metro cities. Tier II hubs are emerging as key employment centers, further supporting India’s transition to a greener, future-ready economy. Government policies, especially those promoting renewable energy and sustainability, are pivotal in this growth, according to the Chief Revenue and Growth Officer of foundit, Mr. Pranay Kale.
