Honda Motor has unveiled plans to significantly strengthen its presence in India by introducing over 10 new vehicle models by 2030, including electric vehicles (EVs), hybrids and several new SUVs. The Japanese automaker identified India as one of its three priority global markets and said the upcoming launches would support its long-term growth ambitions in the country’s rapidly expanding passenger vehicle segment. The company aims to capitalise on rising consumer demand for premium, fuel-efficient and environmentally sustainable mobility solutions. Honda’s future portfolio for India will include a combination of locally manufactured mass-market vehicles and premium imported models, while maintaining a strong focus on hybrid technology alongside battery electric vehicles.
The company’s roadmap is expected to be driven largely by SUVs, with nearly seven new SUV models likely to be introduced over the next few years. Honda also reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing localisation, strengthening research and development capabilities, and improving synergies between its automobile and two-wheeler businesses in India. The expansion strategy comes at a time when India’s automotive industry is witnessing growing demand for cleaner mobility technologies and advanced vehicle features. Honda recently showcased new hybrid offerings and upgraded models, signalling its intent to compete more aggressively in India’s evolving mobility landscape while aligning with its broader global sustainability and electrification goals.
